ABOUT THE ARTIST

© Thomas Kobusch

Thomas Kobusch focuses on the surrounding, local reality with his photorealistic painting style: he paints "déja vu's" on canvas. His motifs are mostly taken from everyday American life: Large supermarket parking lots, vintage cars parked in front of motels, the view from the rainy window of a moving car on the highway. His works claim to depict reality or the memory of it as accurately as possible, creating a "painted photograph." In each work there are traces of the artist, his point of view and his intentions in choosing his subjects.
